Editing, pausing, expiry
What can be changed, and until when.
The destination
Can be changed only while nobody has opened the link. One click locks it.
A link that has been opened is already shared somewhere. Quietly changing where it goes is indistinguishable from passing the checks with a safe address and then redirecting elsewhere. With zero clicks it is effectively a link you just made, so there is room to fix a typo.
Changing the destination runs the same checks as creating it.
Note and expiry date
Can be changed at any time. Neither affects where the redirect goes today, and expiry can only close a link.
An expiry date closes the link after that day has passed. The clear button empties it again.
Pausing and resuming
The pause button in the list closes a link. It is not deleted, so pressing again brings the same address back. While closed, visitors see a "this link is paused" notice.
Deleting
Deleting cannot be undone, and the code is not reused.
Links disabled by a moderator
Links found to breach the terms of use are disabled by a moderator. The owner cannot edit or delete such a link, and new links to the same address are refused — for everyone. If you believe this is a mistake, get in touch. Disabling can be undone.
