Stripping Metadata and Shrinking Photos
See what a photo carries, remove it, and convert the format.
Adding photos
Drag files in, click to choose, or paste a copied image with Ctrl+V. Multiple files at once are fine.
Seeing what a photo carries
Photos often store where they were taken and what took them. This screen reads:
- GPS coordinates — flagged prominently, with a map link.
- Camera — make, model, lens.
- Settings — aperture, shutter, ISO, focal length.
- Date taken and editing software.
A photo taken at home or at work carries those coordinates. Worth checking before you post it.
Only JPEG is inspected. PNG, WebP, and HEIC can carry metadata too, but this tool does not read theirs — and it says so on screen rather than claiming there is none. Converting removes metadata from any format, for the reason below.
Stripping and converting
Choose a format, quality, and size, then convert.
- WebP — smallest at the same visual quality. Best for the web.
- JPEG — opens anywhere. Transparent areas are filled white.
- PNG — lossless and keeps transparency, but larger.
The method is simple: the photo is redrawn onto a canvas and that drawing is saved as a new file. Only the picture travels, so nothing attached to the original comes along. It cannot be undone, so keep your original.
Sizes before and after are shown side by side.
Nothing leaves your device
Reading, stripping, and converting all happen in your browser. The more private the photo, the better this tool fits.
